The Best Last Minute Christmas Shopping

Amazon Gift Card in Snowflake Tin
Oh how I procrastinate. Especially around the holidays. My shopping this year has been delayed even more than usual.  I have a few special gifts purchased and another couple of specific items in the virtual shopping cart. However, the remainder of my last minute shopping will likely be Amazon Gift cards. Thank goodness for Amazon!

I love Amazon.  I mean, I really, really love Amazon.  No one is paying me to say that (however, if you order through my affiliate link I may earn a very small percentage that does not add to the cost of your order).  I just really like Amazon. I always have. I love Amazon for many reasons but mostly because it is easy, reliable, and I have not yet had any problems with an order.

Restaurant Gift Cards
I am not a good shopper.  I don't enjoy it. I do not enjoy fighting the holiday crowds, lines, and traffic. And it seems that I am rarely able to find what I am looking for in the stores. Even outside of the holidays and special occasions, I like to order from Amazon as much as I can.  I know that some people enjoy the excitement of shopping and finding items on sale.  But the thrill for me is doing my shopping while laying here in my pajamas while sipping my iced coffee.

In addition to being able to be comfy and in my own home to do this kind of shopping, I like that I also have many options.  I can choose to send a large variety of cards - store, restaurant, entertainment, or cards that I know will be used to add books to a Kindle. Definitely my idea of one-stop-shopping.

But more important than my comfort during shopping, I feel like if I give a gift card, the recipient can choose what they want. The item with be the right size. Or the right style and color.

I hope your shopping has gone well. And I wish you a Merry Christmas! If you need a few last minute items, I highly recommend gift cards.

  1. I feel your pain! In fact, I could have written this. I am not a good shopper at all. This year I've bought one gift in an actual store, two if you count the gift card that we picked up at our grocery store (one that they don't sell on Amazon). I'm not sure why Christmas sneaks up on me the way it seems to, but it does so I am very thankful for those Amazon ecard gift cards. They've saved my life many a time! (Thanks so much for including my Kindle link. Good idea to let people know that an Amazon gift card works for ebooks, too!)

    1. Sorry so slow to answer. I gave someone an amazon card for Christmas so she could fill her Kindle with books. She said that was her favorite gift. I had never thought I'd like a Kindle..but I am so glad my son bought one for me a couple years ago. It's The Best thing. I was glad to include your link. Everyone should have a Kindle, in my opinion.

  3. Truly my all time favorite gift to give and to receive! I love Amazon and their super fast shipping. This year I went a step further and paid Amazon to gift wrap and deliver to the recipient. That was totally fabulous!!!

    1. I have not tried gift wrap. I need to do that. I know that the more I try to find things in stores (and fail) the more I LOVE Amazon.

  4. I also love Amazon's Wish List feature. My out of town kids and grandkids can make their lists and I can order them from Amazon. 90% of my shopping was done that way this year :)

    1. That's such a great way to shop! I only recently learned that a wish list can work somewhat as a "registry". A group of us were able to send items to a young lady who was replacing items from a house fire. I didn't think about using it for Christmas gifts. What a great idea! Thanks for the tip.

  5. I'm with everyone else, Dawn. I love shopping at Amazon as all 5 of my grandsons live far away and I can have the gifts shipped directly to them, saving me time, expense and wrapping! And if something just happens to be the wrong size, it is easy for my sons or my daughter to exchange the item on Amazon. And gift cards -- the PERFECT gift for the teenage boys who are now beyond my ability to shop for - having no idea of sizes, likes, dislikes, wants and needs. :) This year I went with FOOD gift cards for the 19 and 17 year olds! Teens always like food.

    1. It's great to know that items can be exchanged easily on Amazon. I've never had to return anything so I wasn't sure if it would be easy or not. Good to know that it's easy.

    2. Dawn Rae, Amazon will even provide a postage-paid label for returns/exchanges. My son did it one year when a gift I'd sent was a duplicate of one someone else had sent. Easy-Peesy, he said.

  6. Great idea, as it gets closer and closer this may just be my redeeming gift. Thanks for reminding me of that possibility.

  7. I'm with you. I hate shopping. Shopping online is so much easier for a hermit like me than going into stores. I've never enjoyed shopping as recreatoion as some of my friends seem to. Amazon is usually a great one-stop solution to my shopping needs.

  8. Well, I am there! It is Dec 18th and I still haven't finished my Christmas shopping. I just might need to buy a few gift cards to give again this year.
